Welcome to the website of Sutton Courtenay Parish Council

The Parish Council is a statutory local authority and the closest tier of government to residents.

Here you will find more information about the Council’s role and responsibilities, meeting calendar, agendas and minutes, reports, projects, budgets and how to contact us.

Reporting problems in the Parish

We appreciate it is confusing as to which Council looks after different services and who to report matters to.

If you notice any problems at the Recreation Ground, Cemetery, Village Green or with any of the public benches in the parish then please report these directly to the Clerk to the Parish Council, Jennie Currie, as these sites are owned and managed by the Parish Council. If you notice an overflowing litter or dog waste bin outside of these areas please report it to the Vale of the White Horse District Council via this link

For public rights of way please use the dedicated map https://publicrightsofway.oxfordshire.gov.uk/standardmap.aspx

For all other issues to do with pavements, roads, bus stops, etc. please report the problems via https://fixmystreet.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ or by calling the County Council on 0345 310 1111. If the County Council is not responsible then the issue will be forwarded to the District Council.

For anything to do with rubbish and recycling collected from your home then it is the Vale of the White Horse District Council's contractor, Biffa, via admin.vale@biffa.co.uk or by calling 03000 610 610.

Next Meeting

The next Parish Council meeting will take place on Tuesday 5th March 2024 commencing at 7.15pm.

Didcot Garden Town Highways Infrastructure (HIF1) Inquiry

The Didcot Garden Town HIF1 project would see the dualling of the A4130 carriageway from the Milton Gate Junction eastwards; a road bridge over the Great Western Mainline (Didcot Science Bridge) and realignment of the A4130 north east of the proposed road bridge; construction of a new road between Didcot and Culham (Didcot to Culham River Crossing); a road bridge over the Appleford railway sidings and road bridge over the River Thames; and construction of a new road between the B4015 and A415 (Clifton Hampden bypass). The Parish Council has several objections but are particularly concerned that vehicles will use Sutton Courtenay as a shortcut from the Milton junction to the proposed B4015/A415 junction.
